- After becoming one of the largest real estate education companies
in Arizona they decided to look for another state to expand
to. Hawaii would not come to mind as the obvious expansion move,
but today almost two years later Hogan School of Real Estate
has also become the leading name in real estate training in
Hawaii. “Hogan’s is an all round class act,”
RealtyU® CEO Stefan Swanepoel said in awarding them the
Educator of the Quarter Award for the second quarter of 2005.
Jim Hogan opened Hogan School of Real Estate in 1973 and
his simple business philosophy is drawn from his soda jerk
days in Brooklyn, N.Y. While Jim was struggling to create
his first ice cream soda, his boss grabbed the meager scoop
of ice cream from Jim’s hand, dug deep into the freezer,
came up with a bountiful ball of chocolate, stuffed it into
the glass and said, “Make it like you’re making
it for yourself.” Jim says that’s the best advice
he’s ever received and he and his wife, Esther, have
made it the cornerstone of their operation.
Their real estate school teaches pre-license and continuing
education courses as well as numerous real estate designations
such as the Accredited Buyer Agency (ABR) offered by the Real
Estate Buyer’s Agent Council’s (REBAC) and the
new Certified Seller’s Agent (CSA) designation offered
by the Seller Agency Council (SAC).
As one of the six founding members of RealtyU® back
in 1995, Jim believes that the real estate profession offers
wonderful opportunities for anyone with an entrepreneurial
spirit and a desire to succeed. “Every day in real estate
brings new challenges and new rewards,” he says, “and
the best is yet to be.”
In 1983 Jim was one of the first educators to be awarded
the Real Estate Educators Association’s (REEA) Distinguished
Real Estate Instructor (DREI) designation. In 2002 Jim and
Esther were both inducted into the REBAC Hall of Fame and
in 2004 their school was awarded the RealtyU® Chairman’s
Award.
