- The name Craig Proctor is synonymous with enormous sales records
for RE/MAX in Canada and his high tech sales systems. Proctor
has consistently been in the Top 10 for RE/MAX Worldwide for
14 consecutive years. But who helped Proctor develop those systems,
causing him to go from selling 55 homes per year to 385? Her
name is Linda McLean, President of McLean
International, a systems, procedures, HR and office setup
consulting company founded in 1997. Linda worked as a brainstorming
partner with Craig for 7 years in Canada. The McLean International
Company, now located in Cranberry Township,, Pennsylvania, caught
the eye of The Real Estate Apprentice Grant program. The Program
saw great potential for McLean to impact The Apprentice’s
rookie agent program. “Due to McLean’s insight,
expertise and serving heart, it was invited by The Real Estate
Apprentice Foundation (www.RealEstateApprentice.com)
as a major supporter and sponsor to share its step-by-step consulting
procedures with rookie agents,” said Deputy Executive
Director Dr. Martin Oliver.
Mrs. McLean, who has a 12-year background with the Bank
of Nova Scotia, specialized in commercial lending, business
evaluation and human resources prior to working for Craig
Proctor. “ I helped Craig develop his business structure,
hire a team and then grow it to 20 people, then we RE/MAX
“ballooned” his sales results significantly, and
finally we launched his production company which reaches across
North America,” said Linda.
While working arm in arm with Kendra Shearer, the Season
I Real Estate Apprentice Grand Prize Winner, the McLean International
team recently sponsored an in-depth business needs analysis
including a review of Kendra’s marketing, technology,
office layout, personnel, assessment of customer service,
hands-on technology and business systems consulting set up.
McLean’s services to The Apprentice Winner also include
business diagnosis, goal clarification, personality analysis
using the DISC method, coordination of business vision and
plan, coordination of marketing plan, office setup for maximum
functionality and efficiency, selection and set up of electronic
signatures, voice messaging, buyer and seller file set up,
management of calls, email, and paperwork and the daily organizing
and prioritization of tasks and projects. Needless to say,
Kendra was deeply grateful for all aspects of McLean’s
professional assistance.
According to Debra Harris, Senior Consultant and Certified
DISC Behavioral Analysts for McLean International, “When
the Real Estate Apprentice Grant Program began, it was interesting
to see the volume of corporate and company support reflected
by the many tools and services provided by the Program. After
having worked personally with Kendra Shearer, we believe that
the judges could not have selected a better individual. This
is particularly seen in her business background with an MBA,
and her critical thinking skills. She is especially good at
performing analysis and making the right decision concerning
the next business step. Kendra has not fought the guidance
and expert advice that we and other sponsors have provided.
We are often in situations where we have clients who are given
direction that will improve their business, but for a variety
of reasons such as fear, there is resistance and a hesitation
to receive our advice.”
McLean International initially met with Kendra over the
phone and then quickly progressed to an on-site visit to her
office. They were rapidly able to build Kendra’s real
estate business foundation from the ground up, which is McLean’s
specialty. “Working with an Apprentice Grand Prize Winner
is a unique opportunity in that she had not done anything
that had created a flaw or structural breech in her system.
Whereas many of our clients with established business are
seeking problem-solving solutions, and ask for us to perform
reorganizations where things were not set up properly in the
beginning “ said Ms. Harris.
This does not mean that McLean International clients seeking
streamlined systems cannot escape the inevitable learning
requirements that are inherent in any new venture. Many new
agents are caught up in the confusion of how to structure
a well organized real estate system and office, whereas Kendra,
through McLean’s work, is now free to concentrate on
the larger details of her business to make the most out of
emerging opportunities. “I have no doubt that Kendra
is going to be successful. The early successes that she is
having are quite significant. She has a clear vision of what
she wants and is someone who is so willing and ready to take
the advice of people who can point her in the right direction.
I believe that Kendra will impress all of us with a speedy
ability to carve out a niche market for herself, establishing
a reputation as 'The Senior Lifestyle Specialist
for the Atlanta area'. That is a potent combination
for success and she is hugely fortunate in that regard,”
said Ms. Harris.
The Real Estate Apprentice Foundation thanks and salutes
McLean International, not only for stepping up to the plate
to sponsor grants for new agents, but for their commitment
in working with the Foundation to make the real estate brokerage
industry a better place for everyone … brokers, agents
and the consumers.
