ALISO VIEJO, CA, April 18, 2007 –What identifying factors can be used to predetermine rookie success and movement into stratospheric stardom? The list of characteristics could be lengthy and subject to debate. Some of today’s top agents had a helping hand early on by virtue of association. Perhaps they began their real estate career in their hometown, surrounded by potential clients who already knew and trusted them or perhaps they happened to live in an affluent or resort-based community when they began their practice. Launch benefits may have included a solid and positive sphere of influence, a business education background and start-up capital guaranteeing a 3-5 year window of survival. This week’s iSucceed/RIS Media Business Development and Training Call guest, Lori Grunewald who works with Coldwell Banker in Broomfiled, Colorado, went from $0 to $40 Million in sales during her first 5 years, and yet had not a single one of these advantages. For a limited time you can hear Lori describe in her own words how she broke the Colorado altitude barrier and moved into stratospheric stardom.
Grunewald began her real estate career part-time while holding a full-time job as a waitress … in a town she had never lived in and where she and her new husband knew no one. A few months later she became pregnant, and because of financial pressure had to continue waitressing. With no formal business training Lori began to canvass and farm the “less expensive” side of town where they lived. By year one she had done one million in sales. By year three she had done 11 million and by year five she had done 40 million. All of this success was without any assistants, administrators, secretaries, closing staff, title coordinators, marketing personnel or buyer agents. What are Grunewald’s secrets to success? Well there are many but she says one secret is to put yourself in the buyer’s seat, showing them the level of service and care that you would want to be shown if the situation was reversed. “Put the money you are going to earn on the back burner… even if it means working two jobs,” says Grunewald. “Make sure that it is not just about the commission. If you can put yourself in that frame of mind you will make it. People can feel it when you are paycheck hungry and when you don’t really care what home they buy as long as you get paid fast. Giving exceptional service takes a little longer, however it can mean earning a client for life,” she added.
In 2005 Grunewald was awarded four separate awards from Coldwell Banker, including the Humanitarian Award, #1 Agent in her Office, #1 Team, and the President's Premier Award. This year she and her small team are gearing up for a goal of $60 million in gross sales.
