Rightsizing: Helping Your Senior Clients
Find the Right Fit For Them

ALISO VIEJO, CA, September 4th, 2007 When markets shift and the resulting fallout starts separating the professionals from the weekenders, market talk often turns to the tried and true methods of survival: “Find your Niche! Be different! Specialize in one demographic/ /neighborhood/style of home!”  While it’s undoubtedly good advice to narrow your focus, the wide range of personalities among us ensures that the resulting niches that are established will vary widely.  Looking for handmade houses in the Hamptons? Got you covered. Interested in exclusive Florida mansions on golf courses, preferably with a view of the ninth hole? There’s an expert in those too.  1930-era bungalows in Berkeley, CA more your style?  There are actually three or four agents who deal in those.

So with all the radical nichifying occurring, which, granted, is interesting, serves a purpose, and creates new business streams that might not have existed before, it’s refreshing to see an agent truly get back to basics by choosing a very standard niche, and then doing something very un-standard with it.

Diana Beam of Indianapolis, IN did just that when she established www.smoothmovesforseniors.com.  Having journeyed through the process of downsizing, or as she’s now coined the term “RightSizing™,” a home for her senior aunt, an independent woman in her 80s, Diana and her husband Ron learned both sides of the process.  Afterwards they found there was a dearth of resources in this area to help seniors through what can be a challenging period in their lives, and they decided they wanted to apply the knowledge they’d gained and help make the process joyous and freeing versus stressful and upsetting.

While Diana still manages the buy and sell transactions that are present in some situations, a large amount of her time is now devoted to managing the myriad of details and services she and her husband provide as part of their RightSizing or “Aging in Place” services.  Indeed, in the process of refining the various aspects of truly serving the Senior niche to the best of her ability, Diana has, in fact, created a whole new business.   Diana’s goal in providing these services is to help seniors and their adult children prepare for the their next phase of life—whether that means aging at home, buying a smaller home, or electing for more assistance-intensive living quarters.  Diana shares her story this week in the iSucceed RISMedia Business Development and Training Call  Rightsizing: Helping Your Senior Clients Find the Right Fit For Them

Hosted by iSucceed’s own Kelly Kelley, the interview will be available for one week only at www.isucceed.com/rismedia.   As a senior advocate, Diana Beam serves or participates in many senior-centric organizations, such as The Committee for Building a Senior-Friendly Indianapolis and Partnerships for Aging.  Diana is also a Community Coordinator for AARP, a member of the Senior Real Estate Society, and serves the Senior Sentinels Speaker Bureau.  Her husband and partner, Ron Beam is well versed in the areas of universal design, optimum accessibility and building assessments, and has served as a building consultant for communities designed for residents age 55 and up. He helps seniors evaluate their current residence and other properties for their long-term needs. Together, Diana and Ron make up the SmoothMovesForSeniors.com team.

Every Wednesday the RIS Media/iSucceed Business Development and Training Call presents profitable real estate strategies and introduces agents across the country to the full 30-minute iSucceed Weekly Counseling Call, available only at www.iSucceed.com - the most comprehensive online provider of real estate tips, tools, secrets and success strategies, directly from North America’s 200 most successful real estate professionals.
